Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21, 1983) is a well-known American actress. Most notably, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. After her parents' divorce her parents separated, she moved to Worthington, Ohio to live with her family in Los Angeles. She was struggling to survive at the time she landed her first role in acting in the film Rachel's Room's main character. In 2002, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford, a character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was selected for a Screen Actors Guild Award. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work more prominently in film having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. Grace has been on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Her role was reprised in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon once more in the show's finale and in two additional episodes. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. She portrays Faith, who is a fan and muse of the actors. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager She began working on small roles with her father and appeared in Donnie Darko alongside her brother. She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) Both of which earned the actress Golden Globe Award nods. In 2006, she had several commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However, it was her role as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). For her performance as a single mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Then she continued to star in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). The other roles she played were an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in Frank (2014) as well as her role as the lead in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
