Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. At the age five she moved from London to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor by the age of six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing, dancing and acting. As part of a school production and the stage of a Stagecoach production, Emma took as the lead role at age 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Casting agents discovered Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consistent auditions director David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected to play the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was also the film that was most popular during 2001. Opening weekday and weekend the sales were record breaking. Reviewers praised the film and particularly the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a Feature Film. The actress was recognized five times in recognition of her part in the film.
